// PROFILE

HI, I’M DIAR.

I’m a real-time VFX artist based in Stockholm, Sweden.

I enjoy building effects that feel clear, responsive, and connected to the world around them. I’m always curious about how things work, from the first idea and reference gathering to the final in-engine result.

Outside of making effects, I like exploring visual references, learning new tools, and finding inspiration in games, film, and the world around me.

// PERSONAL NOTES

GET TO KNOW ME

What’s your “background noise” while working? Music, YouTube, silence?

Usually music or a gaming podcast. If it’s music, then it’s often video game soundtracks or K-pop, which keeps my energy up. Gaming podcasts are great when I want something engaging but not too distracting. It helps me stay connected to the industry while I work.

What is one item on your bucket list?

Japan! I really hope I have the opportunity to visit one day. I’m especially drawn to Kyoto!

How do you take your coffee (or tea)?

Iced, always. I just really enjoy cold beverages—there’s something super refreshing about an iced caffe latte, even when it’s cold outside.

Favorite effect you’ve ever seen in a game?

It’s tough to pick just one, but Final Fantasy XVI, Punishing Gray Raven and Lost Ark are packed with stunning effects. The sheer scale and detail of the VFX in those games are incredible—every spell and ability feels powerful and visually satisfying.

What kind of effect would your personality be if it were a VFX?

Definitely a water effect. Something calm and fluid, with a natural rhythm to it. Maybe like gentle waves or a soft stream. I tend to be pretty laid-back and adaptable, more on the tranquil side than explosive—so definitely not something like a chaotic fireball or lightning strike.

What game genre do you think needs more games?

Immersive sims, hands down. I’d love to see more games that let players approach challenges in creative, systems-driven ways. There’s something really special about that kind of freedom, it sparks curiosity and replayability like nothing else.

Favorite game genres?

Single-player action games, JRPGs, and co-op games are my go-tos. I love strong narratives and expressive gameplay, but I’m pretty multifaceted and enjoy a bit of everything—from PvP card games to rogue-likes. If it has heart or a cool twist on gameplay, I’m probably into it.
